Big Horizon Forbidden West Patch Makes The Game Less Shimmery

Developer Guerrilla Games has rolled out a  massive patch  for  Horizon Forbidden West , purporting to fix more than a dozen quests, plus a litany of minor hiccups. It also aims to make the game less shimmery. Those who made it through the era of  puddlegate   unscathed  should rejoice. Horizon Forbidden West , released last month for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, is the sequel to  the best open-world game of 2017 . Like its predecessor, you, as a young woman named Aloy, explore a 31st-century post-apocalyptic America in search of an artificial intelligence program. Along the way, you use futuristic bows and arrows to hunt robots modeled after prehistoric beasts. It rules. Since launch, players have taken umbrage with the game’s shimmering—essentially, that some objects, the fauna in particular, look as if you’re viewing them through the glass wall of an aquarium. Players say it’s more noticeable in  Horizon ’s performance mode, which runs the game at a constant 60fps frame rate a

Random: Requests For Zelda Ports Increase Following BOTW 2 Switch Delay

Yesterday, was a pretty rough one for Switch owners, with Nintendo announcing the delay of  The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 . On a more positive note, it at least gives Nintendo more time to make this anticipated release even better. The only problem we have now is that the Switch could be without a Zelda game for 2022. So what can Nintendo do about this? As usual, social media has chimed in, and there are calls for the company to port  Wind Waker  and  Twilight Princess  to the hybrid platform.

Bloodborne’s 2022 Return to Yharnam event starts today

It’ll run through April 7, 2022 The 2022 Return to Yharnam annual Bloodborne community event is now underway, and will run through April 7. Hosted by the community Discord, the open-ended community-centric activity is a way to get people playing and talking about  Bloodborne  again for a few weeks, and as a participant: it’s usually a blast. The event is completely “play your way,” in the sense that you can just boot up the game, enjoy it at your pace (for the first time, or a repeat run), and sign off. But as usual, there’s a few extra things you can do to spice things up that the event runners encourage others to partake in: Create a brand new character and co-op and PVP whenever able Change your matchmaking to worldwide to interact with as many people as possible Leave the message “you’re in the know, right?” next to the bath messengers in the hub area and upvote when possible While  Bloodborne  is a fantastic game, I wish it was on more platforms. It just goes to show you the ind

Nintendo considered Kirby too round for 3D platform games before developing the Forgotten Land

"The first challenge - and we knew this from the start - was that Kirby's character design was not a perfect fit for full 3D gameplay," he said. "Kirby's silhouette is perfectly round. When you're controlling him from behind, it can be hard to tell which direction he's facing at a glance." Perhaps that's one of the reasons Mouthful Mode was implemented - after all, Carby has an easily recognisable shape. As level designer Yuki Endo says: "From the perspective of creating new gameplay experiences, Mouthful Mode had a kind of intuitive visual appeal for our players." Associate producer Kei Ninomiya adds: "It was also appealing to us in terms of visual design. Because it would be in 3D, we imagined seeing Kirby in these bizarre shapes from all kinds of angles." The developers made a number of adjustments to ease players into 3D gameplay. One of these is ensuring that attacks hit enemies, even if the aim is slightly off. Says Ka

A new patch for Gran Turismo 7 has reduced the amount of in-game currency many races reward, thereby making it harder to unlock new cars, even after widespread criticism of the game’s microtransations.

The racer’s latest patch (version 1.07) has reduced the payout of several races, while fixing two late-game races that were being used to farm credits due to a bug. At launch, VGC reported that some of Gran Turismo 7’s cars cost as much as eight times what they did on Gran Turismo Sport, if purchased using real money. While many racing games feature microtransactions, some of the more high-end cars in GT7 are so expensive that they require a significant amount of gameplay to obtain enough credits to buy them via normal means (with some cars potentially taking dozens of hours of racing). Other cars (most notably high value ‘legendary’ cars) also rotate in and out of the various shops in the game, a tactic that could be perceived as the ‘FOMO’ effect – encouraging players to top up their in-game currency with real money so they’re able to afford a certain car before it’s gone. On top of this, unlike in previous games in the series, players are unable to sell their cars to earn credits.

How To Revive Those Elden Ring NPCs You Murdered Before The Patch Fixed Their Quests

If you’re an overeager (or overly violent)  Elden Ring  player, then you might have  killed a few NPCs  here and there without realizing that they were actually crucial to a quest, or that they were holding on to an important item. Have no fear: Some slain NPCs are not permanently dead, or even permanently mad. To wipe the slate clean, all you have to do is pay a visit to the Church of Vows and say “sorry, my bad” for killing them. Okay, it’s slightly more complicated than that. But not  that  much more. Just head to the crumbled church in Eastern  Liurnia , just west of the Ainsel River Well (or slightly south of the Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel). You’ll be greeted by the giant tortoise Miriel, who is identifiable by her adorable pope hat. But you don’t actually need   to talk to her. What you’re really looking for is the statue of Lady Rennala in the back. By offering a consumable called the “Celestial Dew” to the statue of the fair lady, you’ll be able to revive your victims and ca

Genius Elden Ring Trick Lets Players Farm 5 Million Runes in 1 Hour

A key element to being successful in  Elden Ring  is earning as many runes as possible and then spending those runes to level up one's skills. Doing so will make conquering  Elden Ring 's many challenging bosses significantly easier, though getting runes isn't always the easiest thing in the world. Luckily, there are ways that  Elden Ring  players can farm for runes and level up fast, though one of the best methods does take some footwork. YouTuber RageGamingVideos has uploaded a helpful tutorial explaining how  Elden Ring  players can farm nearly 5 million runes in just one hour. Those that have the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace unlocked in Mohgwyn Palace can head there immediately, but others will likely have to do some prep work first. As explained in the video, the first thing players will want to do is speak with White-Faced Varre after defeating Godrick the Grafted. When that conversation is done,  Elden Ring  players should head to the Church of the Rose

Final Fantasy kart racer Chocobo GP costs $50, monetizes like a mobile game

If you’re interested in  Chocobo  GP , a full-price, $50 kart racer that launched Thursday, realize first that the game is littered with microtransactions and upsells into them. Irate Final Fantasy fans who paid the freight say they feel duped, and those who play even the free, “lite” version available on Nintendo Switch say the whole thing feels like something you play on your phone. The gameplay is fine. Pick a chocobo or a Final Fantasy character, zip around a course, and boost your speed or take down your rivals with power-ups and magic spells. As for the rest of the game, “everything is [built] around purchasable season passes despite it being a paid game,” wrote one player on the Final Fantasy subreddit. “[I]t’s basically the same currency systems we see in gacha games, only it’s all for minor cart customization shit.” While racers and levels are unlockable, karts, outfits, and other items have to be bought at different shops, using more than one in-game currency. Players have

Nintendo 64 Platformer 'Glover' Returns, Just Not On Switch

Who remembers Interactive Studios' Glover? If you had an N64, you likely snagged a handful of 3D platformers from Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie and its sequel, to Goemon's Great Adventure and Chameleon Twist. There was a glut of them on the system, but not many have been ported to other systems. Glover, however, is bucking the trend. On 20th April, you'll be able to play Glover, courtesy of Piko Interactive, on something that  isn't  an N64 cart, PlayStation disc, or an old PC CD-ROM (remember those?). Sadly, it's not coming to the console you'd expect it to, though — at least not yet. While the game is currently only announced for Steam, it seems daft that a port of an N64 game won't come to the Switch, given its origins. If you have a Steam Deck though, it's hopefully compatible with that, so you can still play it in the palm of your hands a few weeks from now.

Gran Turismo 7 can turn the DualSense into a steering wheel - and it's brilliant

Gran Turismo 7 is out now, and it’s simply brilliant. In my review, I say the racing sim is the best PS5 exclusive to date. It looks beautiful, the cars feel incredible to drive, and it’s brimming with content, including hundreds of cars and loads of tracks to race them on. But GT7’s ace in the hole, as it was with PS5 exclusives Returnal and Demon’s Souls, is the haptic feedback and adaptive trigger functionality offered by the DualSense Wireless Controller. GT7’s arguably the best use of the controller’s vibrations, too, with you able to feel every bump in the road, every gear change, even the sweeps of the windscreen wipers. But Gran Turismo 7 showcases the capabilities of the DualSense controller even further. Tucked away in the controller options menu is the choice to use motion controls in place of the analog stick, emulating the feeling of turning a steering wheel. It might sound like a gimmick, and I thought it would be, too, but upon trying out the DualSense’s motion control

BITSY IS THE SMALL VIDEO GAME ENGINE WITH A BIG COMMUNITY

the video game  Under A Star Called Sun , players wake up alone on a spaceship. There are only a handful of things to do: make coffee, water the plants, gaze out upon the cosmos. Walking along the ship’s winding corridors, you come across a room with a machine that lets you re-create memories. Suddenly, you’re transported to a pixelated sidewalk, then to brunch, and next to a quiet park. It’s a snapshot of two friends hanging out together on an ordinary August day — a memory, but one that’s likely to fade, to corrupt, as the protagonist says, “like a JPEG saved over and over.” Under A Star Called Sun  was made by Cecile Richard, a Melbourne-based graphic designer and zine maker. Richard explains over Zoom that it’s a response to grief. A friend passed away in 2019; they loved sci-fi, so a year later Richard made a game set on a spaceship. She did so using a piece of free open-source software called Bitsy which, since its release five years ago, has become one of the easiest ways to s
