Gran Turismo 7: Frequently Asked Questions

As Gran Turismo 7 starts to officially land on doormats and the digital version unlocks for players around the world, there’s a good chance that millions of you will be picking up the game.

With a huge new game in front of players, with so many things to do, see, buy, and race, it’s pretty likely that there’ll be questions. Lots of questions.

We’ve been keeping an eye on the GTPlanet forums and social media channels, as well as the wider internet, over the last few weeks to compile a list of the most-frequently asked questions out there, and their answers.

As understanding of the title evolves over the coming days, we’ll be adding more questions and answers to help everyone get the most out of Gran Turismo 7. If you have questions you think could go into this FAQ, ask them in the comments thread.

When does Gran Turismo 7 come out?

Gran Turismo 7 will launch at midnight in your local timezone on March 4, 2022

What devices can I use to play Gran Turismo 7?

You’ll be able to play Gran Turismo 7 on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles. However the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition will not be able to play the disc version of the game, nor the digital upgrade from the PlayStation 4 disc version, as the console doesn’t have a disc drive.

What are the different versions of Gran Turismo 7?

There are three different specifications of Gran Turismo 7, with availability depending on region, though with the different consoles in the mix too — and digital and disc versions — there’s technically eight versions:

  • Gran Turismo 7 (Standard Edition) for PlayStation 4
  • Gran Turismo 7 (Standard Edition) for PlayStation 5
  • Gran Turismo 7 (Standard Edition) Digital for PlayStation 4
  • Gran Turismo 7 (Standard Edition) Digital for PlayStation 4/5
  • Gran Turismo 7 Launch Edition for PlayStation 4
  • Gran Turismo 7 Launch Edition for PlayStation 5
  • Gran Turismo 7 25th Anniversary Edition for PlayStation 4 & 5
  • Gran Turismo 7 25th Anniversary Digital Deluxe for PlayStation 4 & 5

The PS4 disc and digital versions can be played on either PS4 or PS5 consoles, however they will not benefit from PS5 enhancements unless upgraded to the PS5 version at a later date — at a cost of $10.

That means you will need to be careful which standard digital version you buy, as both are labelled as PS4/PS5 compatible, but only the $10 more expensive item has the PS5 enhancements.

PS5 disc versions cannot be played on PS4 consoles at all.

The Launch Editions seem to be exclusive to the North America region, and come with pre-order bonuses included.

In addition, the 25th Anniversary Editions (25AE) both come with a digital copy of the PS4 game, as well as digital (Digital Deluxe) or disc versions of the PS5 game. Beware that the digital PS4 voucher in the disc version of 25AE cannot be subsequently upgraded to a PS5 version.

Is there crossplay in Gran Turismo 7?

Yes, players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 can race against each other in the same multiplayer lobbies.

What’s the maximum display resolution and refresh rate in Gran Turismo 7?

When running on the PlayStation 5 console, the PS5 version of the game will hit 4K resolution (3840×2160) at 60fps. However Ray Tracing mode, which enables real-time ray tracing effects in some non-gameplay modes for more realistic lighting, will see the frame rate drop below that.

On the PlayStation 4 console, we’ll see an upper limit of 1080p (1920×1080) resolution at 60fps, and Ray Tracing Mode will not be available. The PS4 Pro should allow for its maximum 4K checkerboard resolution (3200×1800, upscaled to 4K) at 60fps, again with Ray Tracing Mode unavailable.

How many cars are in Gran Turismo 7?

At launch, the car count in Gran Turismo 7 stands at 424 cars. This will likely increase with post-launch DLC, but that has yet to be announced.

.

How many circuits are in Gran Turismo 7?

The launch day circuit count in Gran Turismo 7 is 34 different course locations with a total of 97 circuit layouts. Again, this will likely also increase with post-launch DLC.

Is there free roam in Gran Turismo 7?

No, GT7 is not an open-world title. As with all previous Gran Turismo games, you can only drive at the circuit venues provided in the game.

Does Gran Turismo 7 feature online multiplayer?

As with its predecessor, GT SportGran Turismo 7 features both ranked and unranked multiplayer events.

You will be able to arrange private or public lobbies for racing, and there’s a new “meeting place” function for just getting together and showing off cars.

In addition there’s the official “Sport Mode”, and the flagship esports tournament too. You will need to unlock the multiplayer and Sport Mode areas of the game, by finishing Menu Book 9

What controllers does Gran Turismo 7 support?

Gran Turismo 7 will support the standard DualShock 4 (PS4) and DualSense (PS5) controllers. There’s also an official wheel for the game from Fanatec, called the GT DD Pro.

You can also use any external peripherals officially supported by the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles too. That covers a wide range of driving wheels from Logitech (G29, G923), Fanatec (CSL Elite), and Thrustmaster (T80, T150, T300RS, T-GT/T-GTII).

Is there VR support in Gran Turismo 7?

At the moment, no there isn’t. The PS5 version may eventually support PSVR2, but for now there is no VR functionality in the game.

Does Gran Turismo 7 allow you to tune your cars?

Yes, there’s extensive vehicle tuning available in GT7, with parts from brakes and suspension through to engine components and electronics.

The various types of tuning require you to improve your Collector Level, with level 7 being enough to open everything. You’ll also need to complete Menu Book 3 to unlock the tuning area.

Does Gran Turismo 7 allow you to customize your cars?

Yes, and it’s more wide-ranging that in any previous Gran Turismo game. As well as dozens of external tuning parts for each cars, there’s also widebody modifications.

The livery editor from Gran Turismo Sport returns, with some new features to improve its functionality and scope. You’ll find both features in GT Auto, although you will need to unlock that section first by completing Menu Book 7.

Is there a photo mode in Gran Turismo 7?

Like every game in the series since GT4, there’s a full photo mode in GT7 which allows you to position and angle the camera at any moment during a race replay. You’ll also be able to tweak the camera settings, and apply filters and effects to create unique shots.

As well as standard photo mode, the Scapes mode returns. This will feature more than 2,500 3D images of locations from around the world, into which you can place multiple vehicles to take some almost impossible images. You’ll need to finish Menu Book 7 to unlock Scapes.

What is GT Cafe in Gran Turismo 7?

GT Cafe acts as a central hub for Gran Turismo 7’s single-player mode. You’ll be set challenges, by way of “menu books”, which tell you about certain game functions but also ask you to collect vehicles of a certain type or participate in races.

Each time you finish a menu book you’ll get rewards, many of which in the early stages of the game unlock circuits and areas of the home world map.

The Cafe also hosts a museum of sorts. People directly linked to the cars you collect — like designers and engineers — appear to tell you about the cars and their connection to them.

What is Music Rally in Gran Turismo 7?

Music Rally is a new game mode that sees you driving not against the clock but against the beat of a song.

As you drive, the number of beats counts down as the music plays, and when you run out of remaining beats your race is over. However if you pass a checkpoint it replenishes some of the beats, giving you a chance to drive further. The goal is to drive as far as you can before the song ends!

Will Gran Turismo 7 have used cars?

Yes, and there’s two different types.

Firstly there’s regular used cars. These can be cars made before 2001 that you can’t pick up in Brand Central, or they can be secondhand examples of the more recent cars that you can also buy new. They are roughly 20% cheaper in Used Cars, but they do have some mileage — and wear and tear — on them.

There’s also Legends Cars. This special dealership, originally called Brighton Antiques but now called Hagerty, stocks famous, rare, and unique cars from across history. They’re usually pretty expensive too!

Does Gran Turismo 7 include a car wash?

Yes, the car wash is back in GT7! You’ll find the feature in GT Auto once you’ve unlocked that part of the map, and it costs 50 credits to make your car all shiny again.

Will Gran Turismo 7 feature oil changes?

Just like older GT game, GT7 will feature engine wear and tear which you’ll need to keep on top of with oil changes and engine refreshes. These functions are also in GT Auto, but you will need to unlock it in gameplay first

What’s the fastest way to earn money in Gran Turismo 7?

At the moment, nobody has discovered any particularly quick way to earn in-game currency, or credits, although players haven’t got that far into the game yet.

Currently the fastest method of earning credits is to head to the Goodwood Circuit and enter the Clubman Cup Plus race for cars at 350PP or less. You’ll need to fit Sports tires, which means unlocking the tuning section first by completing Menu Book 3.

Win the two-lap race and you’ll get 35,000cr, with a 50% bonus for a clean race increasing that to 52,500cr. You can do this as often as you like.

It’s not much, but it’s more money quicker than any other race even much further in. There will likely be quicker ways later in the game, and we’ll keep this updated with the best ways.

How do I increase my Gran Turismo 7 Collector Level?

To increase your collector level, you’ll need to collect cars!

Very specifically, you will earn one Collector Point for every full 1,000cr value of any car you buy or win. If you buy or win a car worth 20,000cr, you’ll get 20 Collector Points, but if it’s worth 19,999cr you’ll only get 19 points. The number of points you need for each level increases, with 1,510 points — equivalent to a garage worth 1,510,000cr — required to hit level 10.

Increasing your Collector Level gives you access to better tuning parts and to new events in the Mission Challenge section.

What are the Trophies I can earn in Gran Turismo 7?

There are 54 PSN trophies in total in GT7, including the Platinum for collecting all of the other trophies. You can find a full list of them here.

Genshin Impact: Best Nahida Build Guide

The best build for Nahida in Genshin Impact is quite complicated as players need to balance her stat out. So far, Archons in  Genshin Impact  have not been disappointing. Venti is still a top-tier crowd controller, Zhongli is the  best shielder in  Genshin Impact , and Raiden Shogun is a tremendously powerful Sub-DPS and battery. Sadly, while many expect Nahida to take a whole new role, she, like Raiden, is also a Sub-DPS. For the Dendro Archon to become a powerful Sub-DPS, players must be familiar with Nahida’s best build in  Genshin Impact . The best build for Nahida in  Genshin Impact highly relies on her team composition  and how good players’ artifacts are. To put it simply,  Nahida has an obvious diminishing return, so Travelers must consider all sorts of stat buffs from Nahida’s team before determining her best build . This is because Nahida’s fourth-ascension passive (A4) allows her to buff her Skill DMG based on her Elemental Mastery (EM), but this is only effective until 1000

NASCAR Heat 5 2022 Season Update available as of 22nd June

An update to NASCAR Heat 5 that includes the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season and the NASCAR NEXT Gen car released in DLC form on 22nd June for $9.99. The long-awaited 2022 Season Update to NASCAR Heat 5 has finally released as of Thursday (22nd June). Links to the DLC were made public on Steam and the PlayStation Store earlier in the week and the content unlocked around 10:00 pm BST / 5:00 pm EST on PlayStation, Xbox and PC via Steam. Originally planned to release in October of 2022, the update to the title from 2020 was delayed for quite some time. The predecessor to NASCAR 21: Ignition has been the base for the last two releases from Motorsport Games, in the NASCAR Heat Ultimate+ and NASCAR Rivals releases on the Nintendo Switch the last two years. Here’s what is included for the price point of $9.99. This DLC will be playable in Race Now, Career and Online Multiplayer modes. What this DLC will include is, first and foremost, the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series in terms of the cars. That’s a

Pokémon Dev Job Listing References R&D For Next-Generation Hardware

It seems the Pokémon developer Creatures could already looking toward the future of the long-running series. A new job listing at the Japanese company for a 3DCG modeler references "research and development for other next-generation hardware". The same application also mentions the use of Unity and Unreal Engine for project development. Creatures Inc. is one of the major Pokémon developers alongside Game Freak and Nintendo. It previously helped out with Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! on 3DCG modelling. It also worked on Detective Pikachu and is currently developing a sequel. In September, a senior programmer job profile at Creatures referenced work on "one unannounced project" and  Detective Pikachu 2  which is apparently "nearing release".

Warzone 2.0 Is Ditching 2v2 Gulags For Boring 1v1 Showdowns

First came the much-requested changes to   loadout drops , now   Warzone 2.0   is messing with the gulag. With season two’s arrival on February 15, the gulag will no longer make players team up in pairs of two after suffering defeat on the battle royale map. Instead, as in the original   Warzone , it will now focus on 1v1 skirmishes. Unlike in other battle royales,  Call of Duty ’s  Warzone  allows players a chance to jump back into the action after dying. If you’re killed by another player early enough in the game, you’ll get sent to the gulag (there had to have been a better name for that). Here, you’ll square off in a quick deathmatch mode to earn your place back on the main map.  Warzone   2.0 ’s gulag has two teams of two face off, with both members of the winning team rejoining the game. Around halfway through the gulag match, a high-damage-output, bullet-spongey NPC called “the Jailer” will emerge. If the Jailer is defeated, both teams redeploy. If time runs out or the Jailer

Gran Turismo 7’s Next Update is Coming This Week, With Four New Cars

Gran Turismo series founder Kazunori Yamauchi has taken to Twitter to announce and tease the next update to  Gran Turismo 7 , which will arrive on consoles this coming week. It’s coming a little sooner than anticipated, landing around three weeks after the previous content update on September 29. That’s the shortest interval between content updates yet, with most coming four or five weeks apart — and, with the exception of 1.15 and 1.17, on the last Thursday of each month. Another unusual facet is that the update, which we’re temporarily dubbing 1.25, will bring four new cars instead of the three we’ve seen teased for every update thus far: This set of cars looks relatively easy to identify, although with some qualifiers. Probably the most straightforward is the one in the bottom-left, which looks to be a 1973 Nissan Skyline GT-R. Often dubbed “Kenmeri”, due to a promotional campaign featuring a couple named Ken and Mary, Nissan only produced 197 examples of this car — the last Nissa
