CoD: Warzone 2 Season 3 Roadmap Details New Features, DMZ Overhaul, And More

A new season of Call of Duty arrives on April 12, and Activision has revealed the roadmap for Season 3. Warzone 2's new content will include a brand-new battle pass, more operators, Ranked mode, and more. Here we highlight all the major announcements for Season 3 of Warzone 2.

New weapons and operator

Season 3 of Modern Warfare 2 will add four weapons to the game. The battle pass includes the iconic Intervention sniper rifle, which is rebranded as the FJX Imperium sniper, and the Cronen Squall battle rifle.

Later in the season, players can expect two new sidearms. Activision's blog doesn't name them, but they are both described as being fully-automatic weapons.

Both Alejandro Vargas and Valeria Garza from the Modern Warfare 2 campaign will be available to unlock in the premium tiers of the battle pass. More operators are teased to arrive later in the season, which will likely be available as shop bundles.

Season 3 also introduces a beefier version of the battle pass bundle. The standard pass will still be available at $1,100 CoD Points ($10), but Blackcell is a pricey $30 bundle with over 7,000 CoD Points' worth of value.

New event challenges

Trophy Hunt

Season 3 adds Call of Duty's new Trophy Hunt event, kicking off two days after the launch of the season. During this event, every player will drop a "trophy," which is described as a small, decorative coin whenever they are eliminated in any mode. Players can grab these trophies or earn them by performing specific tasks, such as opening supply boxes.

These trophies can then be exchanged for items shown in the events tab, including weapon blueprints, vehicle skins, and battle pass token tier skips.

Camo challenge event

The mid-season update will add a camo challenge event similar to Season 2's Path of the Ronin camo challenge event, but Activision says more details will be provided at a later time.

Battle royale

New modes

Warzone 2 is adding a respawn "Massive Resurgence" mode to Al Mazrah, allowing up to 150 players to battle it out in various squad sizes. This mode will be available at launch.

Arriving later in the season, Warzone 1's Plunder mode will finally be available in Warzone 2, but Activision doesn't confirm if this will be played on both maps or just one. Plunder is a respawn mode where the team with the most cash wins.

Warzone Ranked is the new competitive mode announced for battle royale. This will arrive later in the season, and be played in trios with a leaderboard and more.

New gulag and features

Al Marzrah's existing prison gulag will be replaced with a new 1v1 area. Not to be confused with the Black Site areas in Warzone 2, the new Gulag map is also called Blacksite. This new arena is described as being a roughly rectangular, asymmetrical map with several interior spaces and long external routes. This is likely tied into a new map location on Al Mazrah, as the Blacksite Gulag's current location is teased as being "Redacted."

Season 2 added Redeploy Drones to Ashika Island, and now Season 3 is adding these drones to Al Mazrah, which will give players a new way to traverse Warzone 2's larger map. The launch of the season is also adding DMZ's UAV towers. This lets players interact with the towers, and get several UAV sweeps from the tower's location.

Season 3 will introduce a feature previously seen in Warzone 1's Caldera, Tempered Plate Carriers, which will be added to change players' armor plates. With a Tempered Plate Carrier equipped, a player's armor will be two half-bars instead of three thirds, making it easier and more efficient to re-plate after a fight.

Additional features will be added with the mid-season update, such as Caldera's decontamination stations, deployable Buy Stations, and more.

DMZ

DMZ is getting a massive overhaul for Season 3. Thankfully, the blog doesn't mention a full wipe like with Season 2's launch, and instead there are just a ton of new features being added to the mode.

One major change is the upcoming barter system. This isn't player-to-player trading, but a way of swapping goods at a Buy Station, instead of just being forced to sell scavenged items for cash.

Another major addition to DMZ is the addition of Workbenches, which are locations found on the map near Buy Stations. This new feature allows players to modify their Contraband weapons. Players can spend cash to add or remove attachments piece by piece.

Active Duty Operators bring another huge change. Every player will start with three Active Duty Operator Slots, which is basically three separate operators with their own unique loadout. These items include a player's backpack, plate carrier, killstreaks, self-revive, and gas mask.

For every infiltration into DMZ, a player can choose which Active Duty Operator to use, meaning a player can gear up one operator specifically for a mission in Building 21 runs, and have another who is built for scavenging items without any high-tier items to lose.

There's also a new DMZ boss, who is being teased at being somewhere underground in Al Mazrah, but more information will be provided later in the season.

Genshin Impact: Best Nahida Build Guide

The best build for Nahida in Genshin Impact is quite complicated as players need to balance her stat out. So far, Archons in  Genshin Impact  have not been disappointing. Venti is still a top-tier crowd controller, Zhongli is the  best shielder in  Genshin Impact , and Raiden Shogun is a tremendously powerful Sub-DPS and battery. Sadly, while many expect Nahida to take a whole new role, she, like Raiden, is also a Sub-DPS. For the Dendro Archon to become a powerful Sub-DPS, players must be familiar with Nahida’s best build in  Genshin Impact . The best build for Nahida in  Genshin Impact highly relies on her team composition  and how good players’ artifacts are. To put it simply,  Nahida has an obvious diminishing return, so Travelers must consider all sorts of stat buffs from Nahida’s team before determining her best build . This is because Nahida’s fourth-ascension passive (A4) allows her to buff her Skill DMG based on her Elemental Mastery (EM)...

Pokémon Dev Job Listing References R&D For Next-Generation Hardware

It seems the Pokémon developer Creatures could already looking toward the future of the long-running series. A new job listing at the Japanese company for a 3DCG modeler references "research and development for other next-generation hardware". The same application also mentions the use of Unity and Unreal Engine for project development. Creatures Inc. is one of the major Pokémon developers alongside Game Freak and Nintendo. It previously helped out with Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! on 3DCG modelling. It also worked on Detective Pikachu and is currently developing a sequel. In September, a senior programmer job profile at Creatures referenced work on "one unannounced project" and  Detective Pikachu 2  which is apparently "nearing release".

Warzone 2.0 Is Ditching 2v2 Gulags For Boring 1v1 Showdowns

First came the much-requested changes to   loadout drops , now   Warzone 2.0   is messing with the gulag. With season two’s arrival on February 15, the gulag will no longer make players team up in pairs of two after suffering defeat on the battle royale map. Instead, as in the original   Warzone , it will now focus on 1v1 skirmishes. Unlike in other battle royales,  Call of Duty ’s  Warzone  allows players a chance to jump back into the action after dying. If you’re killed by another player early enough in the game, you’ll get sent to the gulag (there had to have been a better name for that). Here, you’ll square off in a quick deathmatch mode to earn your place back on the main map.  Warzone   2.0 ’s gulag has two teams of two face off, with both members of the winning team rejoining the game. Around halfway through the gulag match, a high-damage-output, bullet-spongey NPC called “the Jailer” will emerge. If the Jailer is defeated, bot...

Gran Turismo 7’s Next Update is Coming This Week, With Four New Cars

Gran Turismo series founder Kazunori Yamauchi has taken to Twitter to announce and tease the next update to  Gran Turismo 7 , which will arrive on consoles this coming week. It’s coming a little sooner than anticipated, landing around three weeks after the previous content update on September 29. That’s the shortest interval between content updates yet, with most coming four or five weeks apart — and, with the exception of 1.15 and 1.17, on the last Thursday of each month. Another unusual facet is that the update, which we’re temporarily dubbing 1.25, will bring four new cars instead of the three we’ve seen teased for every update thus far: This set of cars looks relatively easy to identify, although with some qualifiers. Probably the most straightforward is the one in the bottom-left, which looks to be a 1973 Nissan Skyline GT-R. Often dubbed “Kenmeri”, due to a promotional campaign featuring a couple named Ken and Mary, Nissan only produced 19...
